Poila granted bail

Poe Poila, who appeared in court this week before Justice of the Peace Tangi Taoro for the charges of excess blood alcohol and careless driving has been granted bail.

The bail conditions include a curfew from 7pm to 7am.

He is to reside in Tupapa away from his family despite his father who was present yesterday at the court, seeking approval through Poila’s defence lawyer Jamie Crawford, to be allowed to come back home.

Poila is allowed to work but only within those approved hours.

Poila is also the co-accused in the matter involving sporting executive Romani Katoa.

They are charged in connection to the highly publicised property intrusion incident on Boxing Day 2024, is still off the island.

Meanwhile, Katoa’s case was adjourned to May 15 in the Justices of the Peace Court.

CCTV footage of the incident at a Parengaru property, shared on social media in December 2024, showed the alleged individuals armed with knives entering the property after 2am on December 26.

The matter has been adjourned to May 29.
