Man released from custody on theft as servant charge

A man has been released from custody and appeared in court charged with theft as a servant.

Shaun Tamarangi appeared in the Criminal Court on Thursday last week.

Police had no objection to bail and asked that the matter be adjourned to November 16.

Police asked for bail conditions, including that Tamarangi not go to Cook Islands Motor Centre stores or interfere with witnesses, surrender his passport, and not leave the Cook Islands without permission.

Police said disclosure could be provided, and asked that no plea be taken.

Justice of the Peace Tangi Taoro said Police had advised that the defendant wanted a lawyer, and adjourned the matter so he could seek legal advice.

The matter was adjourned to November 16 and bail conditions included that Tamarangi not go to Cook Islands Motor Centre stores or interfere with witnesses, surrender his passport, and not leave the Cook Islands without permission.

Police were asked to release disclosure before November 16.
