Formerly located in Avaitu, the business is owned and managed by Rima Moeau and her husband Ansaar Khan. They opened the doors of their new premises on Thursday morning.
Moeau and Khan are former managers of the Anchorage restaurant in Arorangi and Moeau had the right experience and knowledge of the hospitality and food industry for them to be able to open their own business.
Four years ago they decided to do just that, launching the original Rima’s Bakery and Takeaway opposite the Punanga Nui market.
“I wanted to know what it was like to own my business,” Moeau says.
“It has been tough at times. I’ve learnt a lot, especially things to keep in mind such as increases in the prices of stock, and the variety of food offered on the menu, just to name a few,” says Moeau.
Although operating the business can be time-consuming, Moeau is glad and happy to be self employed and running her own business.
“I’m excited: there are many visitors on this side and lots of locals who pass through on their way to and from work every day.”
Every morning freshly baked bread, quiche, croissants, cream buns and more, are ready to eat from 7am. A daily breakfast menu which features popular favourites such as omelettes and eggs benedict is also available.
The extensive menu also includes curries, burritos, nachos, seafood chowder, pork spare ribs, fishermen’s baskets, chicken pasta, Asian-inspired stir fry dishes, pizza and crispy deep fried chicken.
There is plenty of room for parking and a large shady veranda with a cool breeze to take a seat and enjoy a meal with your family.
Rima’s Bakery and Takeaway opens from Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm. It is closed on Saturday, but open on Sunday from 7am to 8pm.
