The Bluesky Touch competition kicked off on Monday in exciting fashion, with a number of close games showcasing the high level of skill on display.

Opening the afternoon was an evenly fought match between FBI Red and FBI Green, with a mixture of fresh faces and old heads.

The FBI Red displayed their superior experience early on, taking advantage of a defence in disarray to dot down twice.

However, FBI Green managed to claw themselves back into contention when they found space down the sidelines to equalise, and the match finished with a two-all draw.

The first men’s game saw Germinators take on last season’s champions GAT.

GAT had the edge in experience, and showed enough savvy to put away their feisty opponents 6-4.

Another standout match was between NukzPower and Bounty Hunters, as both came out firing.

Showing superior fitness when it counted in the second half, NukzPower managed to pick apart the Bounty Hunters’ defence with some smart dummy-half runs.

Sunielia Tom in particular was unstoppable, as his team racked up seven touchdowns to three.

The last match of the night was an exciting tit-for-tat affair between the Manatoa and Team Transport men’s teams.

Both teams were equally matched in attack and defence, and the winner looked to be one that could break the game open with a bit of magic.

Neither team got that opportunity however, and the match finished in a four-all draw.

Tonight’s Bluesky Touch Games will begin with a men’s catch-up game between Team ATT and Manatoa men’s, kicking off from 5pm.
