Organisers are receiving good interest from potential teams who will take part in the day-long event, starting at 9.30am on Tuesday next week at Avatiu Field.
Cook Islands Touch president Daphne Brown is calling on teams to register for the tournament by today, as there are limited slots left.
“There is heaps of interest and registrations still coming in, so we encourage those who haven’t yet registered to do so by Friday,” Brown said.
“There are only two days left to register. Its first paid, first served, so if want to secure your place for the Bluesky Boxing Day Touch Tournament, get your fee in.”
The 2015 champions Bulletz are back and will be hoping to take the field guns blazing in their bid to regain the title.
Brown said they were waiting on defending champions RBDC to return to defend their title.
Team Mongoose, divisional winners from last year, are also ready to take on any team that cares to challenge them, she added.
“The Boxing Day Touch tournament is always popular and has been for the last 20 plus years.
“It’s popular with families who want to have a fun activity for the day to run off the extra puddings eaten at the Christmas kaikai. It’s a great way to get our people moving and exercising.”
For more information and registration, contact Brown on 54171 or June Putere on 53361.
The registration fee for the tournament is $120 with a nominated team referee. There is an additional $40 fee for teams that do not provide a nominated referee. Teams are to be in uniform.
