The Matavera-Ngatangiia senior women’s side will face an uphill battle against Tupapa Maraerenga at the CIFA complex this afternoon.

The side is still hunting their first win of the season and will be hoping to put everything on the line to pull off a major upset in the domestic football competition.

While winning will be Matavera-Ngatangiia’s top priority, the side is likely to prioritise their defending against the much-fancied division leaders Tupapa.

Tupapa’s recent lacklustre performance would give some hope to Matavera who maybe brimming with confidence of picking up their first victory of the season. However Tupapa is likely to control the game and with quality players in the side, they can score at any given opportunity. A win will surely restore some confidence in the side heading into the final rounds.

Tomorrow, the Matavera-Ngatangiia premier men will be up against Tupapa Maraerenga in what is looking to be an exciting match-up.

Tupapa is in great form and will be a tough team to beat but after a surprise result last week in Puaikura, Matavera will come with some confidence to pull off another upset this week.

Matavera will have to use their speed up front to their advantage. The side will also need to play smart football to overcome the favourites Tupapa.

Matavera’s senior players Paul Van-Eijk and Chris Whitaker will be calling shots and they have a huge responsibility of guiding their younger players against the seasoned Tupapa reps.

Meanwhile Tupapa’s defenders Anthony Samuela, Dave Milanovic, Peni Kitiona and Willynn Hagai will need to communicate well on the field and play their cards right to thwart any Matavera attack while teammates and brothers Mii and Sunai Joseph will have to be clinical up front to get the much needed goals.
