Puaikura and Tupapa Maraerenga faced off on Saturday at the CIFA Complex in Matavera in a high intensity match that ended in a draw.

Puaikura quickly got the match underway scoring from a penalty through the boots of Campbell Best in the early minutes of the game putting them ahead 1-0.

Hungry to put themselves back on even terms Tupapa replied shortly, when Grover Harmon blasted the ball in to the back of the net.

Later in the first half, Sunai Joseph put Tupapa ahead 2-1, when he found himself with time and space in front of goal.

As the match continued, the physicality grew and so did the intensity. Many players on both sides received cards for infringements including dangerous tackles.

Just when the game was thought to end in favour of Tupapa, Puaikura’s Best pulled one back bringing the score back to level.

With just a few minutes remaining either side tried their best to get the winner but they were unable to find the back of the net and the match ended in a stalemate.

Puaikura and Tupapa Maraerenga’s senior women also went head to head in an exciting match where Tupapa came out on top with a final score of three goals to Puaikura’s one.

Tupapa’s goals were scored by Elizabeth Harmon, Kura Tare and Mii Savage. While Arorangi’s sole goal was scored by Rai Nganu.

On Friday Titikaveka’s premier men outclassed Avatiu by four goals to zero while their senior women drew with Avatiu on Thursday 1-1.
