Puaikura and Tupapa square off

In the Van’s Premier Men’s division of the Rarotonga Round Cup Competition, every game counts for the top four teams, with all still in with a shout of the title race.

Puaikura’s need for points is great when they take on Tupapa Maraerenga in the top-of-the-table clash at the Teimurimotia Park in Titikaveka.

After a comfortable 4-0 win over Avatiu, Puaikura will eye another three points as they chase Tupapa Maraerenga and Nikao Sokattak for the top spot.

No doubt Puaikura would like to continue their winning form and get another win in today’s encounter against Tupapa Maraerenga.

This is the second matchup this season, with Tupapa Maraerenga claiming a 1-0 win at the CIFA Complex on August 18.

The Tupapa Maraerenga squad is sound and always plays with energy and a purpose that eclipses each team they face. They are confident with their style of play when it comes to offence and defence.

With the talent in midfield and in the attack, it is not a surprise that this team believes in possession football with a potent strength in the final third.

Tupapa suffered a tough loss against Nikao Sokattak last week and this match will be a chance for them to get things back on track.

The winner of this game will keep themselves in contention for the title, while a loss would possibly upset either team’s aspirations, but with 10 games left to play there is ample time to keep tacking on points.

In the other Premier Men’s match up, Avatiu will be taking on Matavera at the CIFA Complex.

Both Premier men’s matches will kick off at 4:00pm. Saturday’s soccer games will commence at 12:30pm with the Under 14 girl’s division.
