Arguably the best match-up of the first few days of the season, Puaikura and Tupapa Maraerenga have cultivated a nice little rivalry over the past few years.
It will be a perfect game for Puaikura to find out exactly where they are at in terms of competing against the better clubs in the competition.
Goal-scoring machines Dwayne Tiputoa, Pekay Edwards and gutsy defender Jarves Aperau will be the key players for Puaikura in today’s encounter.
At the outset, Tupapa Maraerenga looks to be the better of the two sides, with Grover Harmon and returning standouts Paavo Mustonen and Anthony Samuela leading the team offensively.
Based on previous performance these are both good teams however, and today’s clash will no doubt prove entertaining for spectators.
In the other premier men’s match, a lot has been made of the new faces Avatiu have acquired on offense and in goal, with the transfer of speedy striker Campbell Best especially contributing to Avatiu’s attacking play.
Matavera Football Club have also secured the services of other players from other clubs and will also be looking at improving their ranking in the Round Cup Competition in 2018.
Matavera and Avatiu will be facing off against each other at the Takitumu school grounds.
Both premier men’s matches will kick off at 4pm. Today’s games will commence at 12.30pm with the U14 girl’s division.
