The Nikao football club team Nikao Sokattak will host Titikaveka for its first matchup of the season this afternoon and then again on Friday at the Nikao sports field.
The season opener for Nikao Sokattak’s premier men’s team on Friday will set the tone for the club.
Early success will be vital for them to gain momentum with an already established team.
Nikao Sokattak is filled with young talent and they are hungry to prove that they belong among the top teams.
On the other hand, Titikaveka often caused big upsets last season, so it will be interesting to see if that trend continues.
The matchup between Nikao and Titikaveka will be the first on-the-field clash between two teams who will be battling it out every week to better their chances of winning the 2018 Rarotonga round cup competition and qualify for the Oceania Champions League.
Kicking off today’s proceedings at 4pm will be the young men from Nikao Sokattak and Titikaveka, who will no doubt field their best to win their first game of the season, while the Nikao Sokattak and Titikaveka women’s teams have the privilege of getting things started for the senior division.
Both squads have what it takes to sneak into the top half of the table when the season ends and it will be interesting to see the outcome of this first meet.
