The team consists of two clubs, the Titikaveka Football Club and Matavera/Ngatangiia Football Club.
They have been in training since early February and are looking forward to the upcoming competition.
Part of the team’s preparation is also sorting out fundraising events, as events like these can be costly for teams.
Vaka Takitumu’s fundraising events will begin tomorrow with a sponsored runathon, where players will be running around the village to raise some funds.
The final fundraising effort will come on April 6, when the team is holding a movie fundraiser showing the premiere of the Walt Disney movie A Wrinkle In Time.
There will be two screening times at 5pm and at 7.30pm that evening. The players will be selling the tickets.
There will also be a food stall at the movies so families coming to the fundraiser can also enjoy dinner.
All these fundraising events will contribute towards the team’s playing strip, apparel wear, first-aid items, recovery items, lunch packs, and also other incidentals that will assist with the team’s well-being during the competition.
The Vaka Takitumu senior men’s and senior women’s teams, management, and the two presidents of the clubs would like to thank everyone for their generosity towards their campaign.
