Tupapa Maraerenga on target to regain the silver wear

Friday November 10, 2017 Written by Published in Soccer

As we head into round 12 of the 2017 Rarotonga Football Season, clubs have asserted themselves in pivotal spots on the points table.

In the Vans Premier Men’s division, Tupapa Maraerenga is on target to claim back the silverware that eluded them last season and to book their place at the OFC Champions League Preliminary Stage, to be held in American Samoa in January 2018.

Sitting on 25 points, Tupapa Maraerenga will face rivals Nikao Sokattak later this afternoon and Puaikura next week, with Avatiu being their last game.

They will need at least a draw from either games to take out the 2017 Vans Premier Men’s Championship with three games remaining.

For Nikao Sokattak, a win against Tupapa Maraerenga today, Matavera and Titikaveka will see them edge close to the top.

However, goals are required to overtake Tupapa Maraerenga because of the superior goal difference aggregate.

Nikao Sokattak, Tupapa Maraerenga and Titikaveka Senior Women’s team are all in close contention to claim The Islander Hotel Senior Women’s Championship, with one point separating all three teams.

With three games in hand, all teams will be striving to add that precious three points for a better position on the table.

Yesterday Nikao Sokattak hosted Tupapa Maraerenga.

Titikaveka Senior Women have always come close to winning the round cup championship, and perhaps this is the year for them as they need to win their remaining games against Nikao Sokattak, Matavera and Puaikura.

At this stage anything can happen in The Islander Senior Women Championship between the top three teams, and only a win in the remaining games can confirm their position on the points table.

Nikao Sokattak U17 Men’s division have proven again why they are the top team as they claim the Hori Signs U17 Men’s Championship for 2017.

Sealing their last match against Titikaveka in the round cup competition with a win has given them a clean sheet of nine wins with one draw and no losses.

Matavera comfortably takes second place on 20 points, while Tupapa Maraerenga books in at third on 17 points.

Once teams have confirmed their placing on the ladder in all divisions, they can then see who they will face in the CIFA Knock-Out Competition.

Exciting times ahead for football players and fans!
