Tupapa Maraerenga forward Campbell Best scored a hat-trick, while Ivan Smith, Graham Viking, Grover and Lee Harmon managed one each in the big win.
Five of the seven goals were scored in the second half, a display of complete dominance for the team.
The first half began in a frantic pace, with Tupapa Maraerenga leading several quick offensive attacks.
The side had their breakthrough in the 26th minute when Best successfully converted a spot kick resulting from a foul called on Takuvaine for dangerous play.
Takuvaine had a prime chance to score few minutes later, after given an opportunity from a handball foul by Tupapa.
Tave Tereapii’s low attempt was superbly saved by Tupapa goalkeeper Mana Pierre. Tereapii followed up and again the ball rebounded off the keeper.
Tupapa Maraerenga’s next opportunity came on a loose ball as a defensive error gifted space for Best, who dribbled his way past the goalkeeper to score his second.
The game was back and forth for the remainder of the first half as Tupapa went into the breather with 2-0 lead.
Tupapa continued their dominance in the second spell with Smith executed a pass from defender Ed Brogan well to extend the team’s lead to 3-0.
The side maintained their aggressive play for the rest of the game, not letting Takuvaine create many attacks and bombarding their goalmouth area with shots.
The side scored four more to seal the 7-0 win.
In the other premier men’s matches Avatiu notched a 3-0 win over Titikaveka, thanks to an impressive first half performance earning them their first win of the season, while defending champions Puaikura and Matavera battled to a 1-1 draw. -CIFA
