The Tupapa Maraerenga premier men’s team extended their unbeaten run to seven with a resounding 7-0 win over Titikaveka at Teimurimotia Park on Saturday.

The visitors were two goals up within 20 minutes, added another two before the break and scored three more in the second half.

Titikaveka’s fate seemed sealed from the start as the hosts generously gifted possession to the away side, who immediately took control.

The home side was practically helpless against Tupapa Maraerenga’s stylish attackers, and

Spearheads Campbell Best and Grover Harmon scored five of Tupapa Maraerenga’s goals with Jamian Iroa and Lee Harmon adding to the tally with one goal apiece.

The match presented numerous scoring chances for both squads.

However Tupapa Maraerenga had the advantage in terms of their superb midfield play and set pieces.

With a deadly combination of speed and ball control, Tupapa Maraerenga caught the home team off-guard often, and tested their defence with some deft passing which allowed Best to score the opening two goals in the match.

Grover Harmon, displaying fancy footwork and speed, then sent two screamers into the net to help Tupapa Maraerenga lead 4-0 at the break.

In the second spell Tupapa Maraerenga continued to press forward in search for more goals.

Any hopes of a Titikaveka second half comeback was quickly extinguished as Best, Lee Harmon and Iroa scored a goal each to put the game beyond doubt with a comfortable 7-0 lead.

Tupapa Maraerenga have recorded some big wins lately, scoring at least two goals against defending champions Puaikura, Nikao Sokattak and Takuvaine in the earlier rounds.

With seven wins and a draw, the side maintains a good lead in the Rarotonga Football Season Competition points table.

In the other premier men’s matches, Avatiu put on a gallant show against rivals Nikao Sokattak for a 2-2 draw and Takuvaine overcame Matavera 2-1.
