As the four week-long pre-season soccer competition comes to an end, revenge will be on the minds of Puaikura FC players after Tupapa Maraerenga inflicted their only loss of the season so far during the second pool A encounter.
For Puaikura, midfield players such as Anthony and Kimi Samuela will need to look for possession of the ball in order to create scoring opportunities for their forwards, and the return of Paavo Mustonen will no doubt add significant value to the Puaikura outfit.
On the other side, the Tupapa Maraerenga team is made up of four to five U-17’s players, so they will have to rely on their more experienced senior players such as Campbell Best and Grover Harmon to lead the team.
Both teams qualified for the final after eliminating Nikao Sokattack and Matavera respectively, with a score line of 2-0 in the semi-finals played on Tuesday.
It will be an intriguing match to watch and see who will take the first trophy up for grabs in the 2017 football season.
In the senior women’s division, Titikaveka face a rematch against Tupapa Maraerenga, with Titikaveka going into the match as slight favourites after beating their opponents 2-0 in the group stage.
Today’s preceding will begin with the U-8 and U-11 mixed at 12:00pm, which will be followed by the U-14 girl’s and U-14 boy’s finals.
