The annual Origin Gas Primary School tournament for Year 7 and 8 (Form 1 and 2) will take place this afternoon at the Takitumu School grounds in Matavera from 3.30pm.

Teams will battle it out in the A Boys and A Girls division for top honours.

Participating schools are Apii Avarua, Apii Nikao, Apii Arorangi, Apii Te Uki Ou, Nukutere, Papaaroa and Titikaveka College.

Last year in the girls’ division finals, Avarua School went head to head with Nukuture College, winning the championship title by 2-1.

In the finals for the boys division, Apii Avarua took on a competitive side from Papaaroa and won the 2016 Origin Gas A Boys Division. Apii Avarua will be looking to retain their title, however, the tournament has seen its fair share of competitive football and this year’s contenders will surely put it all on the line today to win top honours for their respective schools.

The presentation of trophies will follow after the final matches have been played.

Parents are also most welcomed to come along and support their children.

This is the third year of the Origin Gas sponsorship for this event and the Cook Islands Football Association would like to thank them for their continued support for this event and the development of the players.
