IT’S DO-OR-DIE for remaining teams in the CIFA Knockout competition today at Takitumu School and the Takuvaine Sports field.

Matches kicking off at 12.30pm in the Under-14 girls division will see Avatiu up against Matavera and Takuvaine squaring off with Titikaveka.

The U14 boys clash will follow next at 1.30pm, with Tupapa Maraerenga set for Takuvaine and Avatiu battling Nikao Sokattak.  The much-anticipated women’s battle is on the cards next with games to determine next week’s semifinalists starting at 2.30pm.

Titikaveka women’s team have successfully booked an early spot in next week’s semis, after their 3-2 win on penalties against Puaikura on Thursday.

While it may seem the former got knocked out of the competition, there is still a glimmer of hope for Puaikura whose fate to remain in the race will rely on the final results of today’s matches.

The 2016 Round Cup winners Tupapa Maraerenga are set to compete against Avatiu, while Takuvaine will take on in-form Nikao Sokattak in today’s clashes.

The premier men’s fixture is expected bring in a thrilling encounter with Tupapa Maraerenga preparing for another challenging battle against Matavera. History favours Tupapa to win this match but all depends on how organised and determined the teams are on the day.

In the other premier men’s clash, Takuvaine have a tough fight on their hands as they face Titikaveka for the third time this season.

Their last encounter saw underdogs Titikaveka running away with an impressive 3-0 lead before Takuvaine made a comeback to equalise the match 3-all.

The men’s matches are scheduled to square off at 4pm.

Meanwhile in the memory and respect for those devastated by the plane crash in Colombia last Monday, claiming the lives of players and officials of the Brazilian Football club Associacao Chapecoense de Futebol, a minute of silence will be observed prior to kick off of both premier men's matches today.
