With the Van’s Premiership title hanging in the balance, arch-rivals Puaikura will go head-to-head with host Tupapa Maraerenga at 4pm.
This is a must-win game for defending champions Tupapa Maraerenga to have any chance of retaining the premier men’s championship title.
For Puaikura, a win today would probably seal the title for them and thus securing a berth at the 2017 OFC Preliminary Championship in Tonga.
Tupapa Maraerenga has their work cut out for them and any charges from coach Delaney Yaqona will be crucial to the outcome of today’s main clash of the week.
Team skipper Mii Joseph will no doubt marshal his side from the backline and call on the experience of veteran import player Hone Fowler to control their mid-third structure.
Combined with the speed and skillset of lone striker Campbell Best and guidance of experienced midfielder Geoffrey Strickland, the side will be hoping to penetrate and create goal-scoring opportunities.
Puaikura, with their lethal midfielders Anthony and Kimiora Samuela, will need a good percentage of possession to feed their strikers Dwayne Tiputoa and Pekay Edwards.
The Anthony Samuela-coached squad has had an impressive season and another win today will stretch their unbeaten run in the round cup competition.
Both table-topping teams are in peak form and a grain away from each other on the table.
