The Nikao Sokattak premier mens soccer team notched a 5-0 win over Titikaveka in their first match of the 2011 Rarotonga football season at the Titikaveka field on Saturday in the Lotto Premier Mens competition.

Goals to speedster Teariki Mateariki and young Irangi Maui sealed the first match success, while hosts Titikaveka found it difficult to break the Nikao Sokattak defence.

The match kicked off in perfect conditions with Nikao posting their first goal in the first ten minutes of the game through the boots of Teariki Mateariki as he sped past the Titikaveka defenders to slide the ball past the goal keeper.

Titikaveka looked as though they were struggling to keep up with the pace of the game played by the Nikao Sokattak side.

In the second half Nikao Sokattak hammered through another 4 goals to end the match in their favour by 5 goals to nil.

It was Titikaveka and Nikao Sokattaks first outing and Nikaos coach Alex Napa is pleased with the result.

In the other Lotto Premier Mens match played last Saturday at the Matavera school grounds, Takuvaine won their game by 1 goal to nil over hosts Matavera.

At the CIFA complex last Friday, Tupapa defeated Avatiu by 5 goals to 1 but it was Avatiu who scored first through youngster Marcello Rairoa.

Both sides were evenly matched during the first half of the game but it was Tupapa who seemed in control while slotting through 2 goals before the half time break.

In the second spell Tupapa booted 3 goals through Branden Turepu, Grover Harmon and Paavo Mustonen to win their second game 5-1.

In the CIPS Image & Copy Centre womens competition, Nikao Sokattaks striker Tepaeru Toka punted through 3 goals for her side over hosts Titikaveka.

The stunning strikes brought the vocal Nikao supporters to life as Nikao continued to dominate their game.

With the match seemingly in control by Nikao, Titikavekas Patricia Taea managed to score their sole goal before the final whistle as Nikao claimed their 3 points.

In the other matches played in the CIPS Image & Copy Centre womens competition, host Matavera were elated with the 1-all draw against Takuvaine, while Tupapa add another 3 points by defeating Avatiu by 2 goals to nil.
