Titikaveka Bulldogs have forfeited their match against table toppers Avatiu Eels.

The match was supposed to be held at The Swamp at 4.30pm today.

Tai Nelio, the Raro Cars Rugby League competition coordinator, said the Bulldogs are unable to field a full team due to injuries and players returning to New Zealand.

“They have player issues, there is a player stood down and some are injured as well. Basically they can’t field a team against the Eels,” Nelio said.

“The default will cost the Bulldogs competition points and a monetary fine of $200. Eels get the two easy points.”
The Eels are now unbeaten in four matches and lead the competition points table on eight points.

The Walter Tangata-coached side has defeated Arorangi Bears 26-23, Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles 22-16 and Tupapa Panthers 28-20 in their last three matches.

Titikaveka Bulldogs remain at the bottom of the points table without a win from four matches now.

They have lost to Panthers 26-52, Sea Eagles 26-28 and the Bears 16-48.
