The school took out five of the six titles at yesterday’s Primary Schools Viva Sevens tournament held at Raemaru Park in Arorangi.
The A-grade final was a fairly one-sided affair, with the boys winning the top title four tries to one over Arorangi.
Cook Islands Rugby Union development manager Ben Koteka said overall, the day was an overwhelming success.
“We were blessed with some outstanding weather for these kids to all come out here today, have fun and be active,” Koteka said.
“We have over 42 teams here from all the primary schools on the island as well as our Sydney friends from Collaroy. It is a great way to showcase our island community and everyone supporting each other and having a good time.”
Koteka said the event would not have been possible without many people having worked behind the scenes.
“A big thank you to Tereora College teacher Thomas Henderson for organising his senior students to come and referee our games.
“Also thank you to Kaitaia College, whose players came down and helped the school teams with drills and sideline support, as well as the Cook Islands under-19 canoe team and the Collaroy supporters who pitched in helping on the barbecue.”
More pictures from yesterday’s action and the final results of the netball competition will follow in tomorrow’s paper.
