The score remained at 15-all for most of this match, however it was the better-drilled visitors who were able to score a try in the last five minutes of play to record their second win.
In their opening match, Kaitaia defeated U18 Country 13-12 on Friday last week.
Against the U18 Town side, the Kaitaia team got off to a flying start with two tries being scored in the first 12 minutes of play from their impressive inside centre Jayden Tomars.
However, to their credit, the U18 Town team regrouped and were able to bring the scoreline back to a level pegging, with the score subsequently staying at 15-all for most of the match.
Impressive for the U18 Town team were number eight Leandro Vakatini, who scored two tries, first five eighth Brian Akava, fullback William Rani, and prop Warren Ngamata.
For the Kaitaia College team, midfielder D’Angelo Tahitahi, who scored their match-winning try, and hard-working forward Cole Karey stood out.
The side will take on the Tereora College First XV tomorrow in their final match at the BCI Stadium at 1.15pm.
“Thank you to the Avatiu Rugby Club for hosting this match and to Clive Nicholas who coached the Country team,” said CIRU development manager Ben Koteka.
