The Cook Islands Rugby Union has made an official complaint to Oceania Rugby and the Tahiti Rugby Union regarding ineligible players that were used in the controversial 13-9 loss the Cook Islands suffered on Constitution Day.

CIRU became aware after the match that three players were ineligible to play, yet were used anyway in the Test match, played on August 4.

The loss to lowly-ranked Tahiti was a huge upset for the home side, who were expected to romp over their opponents and continue playing for World Cup qualification.

The visitors received a huge boost from players bought over from France, three of whom were played illegally.

CIRU now awaiting a response from the Tahiti Rugby Union, who were notified about the complaint soon after the game.
