The Tereora College 1st XV Rugby Tour 2017 side received another major boost ahead of their Hawaii trip later this month.

Bank of South Pacific (BSP) joined the team’s campaign by becoming the silver plus sponsor for the side.

The team of 36 players and officials will participate in the Annual Pacific Cup Rugby High School Championships featuring the best high school teams in the western region of the United States.

The tournament will be hosted by the Kahuku Red Raiders at the Brigham Young University Rugby Facility from April 27 to 29.

In a statement, BSP said it came on board to show support to the school especially the players.

The bank adds they are excited to help in the development of the young talent of the Cook Islands and continue the relationship they have with Tereora College.

BSP put on a breakfast function yesterday and distributed merchandise for the team before they head out to Hawaii on April 24.

Tereora College principal Tania Morgan earlier told this newspaper that they wanted to send their best prepared side for this tournament.

“This is the first time in a long time that Tereora College has been represented on the international arena in terms of a sports team,” she earlier said.

“We (as a community) are investing a lot of time into these boys and we expect these boys to perform well and be at their best for the tournament.”

The team had earlier received support from Bluesky which presented a cheque of $5000, a Huawei P9 smartphone and 10 $20 credit vouchers to help with their fundraising efforts.
