A cheque of $5000 to assist with fundraising efforts, a Huawei P9 smartphone and ten $20 credit vouchers were presented to the team as part of Bluesky’s commitment to the sponsorship agreement on Wednesday afternoon.
Bluesky marketing manager, Kathy Papatua made the presentation and said it was a privilege to support the school’s request for assistance.
“We are honoured to have been given this opportunity and as a company which prides itself in supporting youth development and empowerment, education and being heavily involved in community activities, we were more than pleased to come on board and assist this campaign.
“We wish the team the very best on their trip and we look forward to seeing them back home safely.”
Next month the national school team of 28 players will embark on a week-long journey, where they will play against the best high school teams from across the Western Region of the United States.
The tournament will be hosted by the Kahuku Red Raiders at the Brigham Young University Rugby Facility from April 27 to 29.
The team will leave Rarotonga on Monday, April 24 and return on Wednesday, May 3.
