Aitutaki Oe Vaka off to Tahiti

The Aitutaki Oe Vaka Club will be representing the Cook Islands at this year’s 18th IVF World Oe Vaka Sprints in Tahiti, starting tomorrow and running through to July 27.

The Cook Islands Canoeing and Kayak team recorded a mixed result in the inaugural Asia Pacific Sprint Cup in Adelaide, Australia, over the weekend.

Race review leads to joint win

Despite an original announcement stating otherwise, Tereora College and Nukutere College have now been named joint winners of the 2018 Vaka Iti paddling regatta.

After being postponed in the final week of term one due to bad weather, the 2018 Vaka Iti competition was held yesterday at Vaiana’s in Nikao.

The BSP Vaka Iti 2018 regatta which was orignally to be held early last month will now take place on Monday at Vaiana’s in Nikao.

Ngakau Toa Vaka (NTV) kicked off their 2018 campaign with a winning start in the season opening Cook Islands Canoeing Association fortnightly competition this week.

Open day a huge success

Hunter and husband head to Hawaii

Legendary paddler Serena Hunter and her husband Conrad departed Rarotonga yesterday for Hawaii, as they prepare to compete in the famous PAA Kaiwi Channel Relay event this Saturday.

Students from Tereora, Nukutere, Titikaveka, Te Uki Ou and Imanuela Akatemia are participating in the Vaka Iti Regatta to be held at Nikao lagoon next Monday, and more than 300 students began theoretical and practical vaka lessons in February.
