Third spot for local paddlers

The Cook Islands female paddlers are jubilant to place third in the New Zealand open women’s Takapuna Beach Cup 42 km race. They received their medals yesterday wearing our signature ei katu.

This is the first time the country has registered a female crew to participate in the grueling and arduous competition.

Since January, the team of ten from the ages of 17 to 52 committed themselves to training for the race under the mentorship of coach and master paddler Serena Hunter.
