The Matson Vaka Eiva 2015 came to an end yesterday after some exciting races in the weeklong competition.

Despite the unfavourable weather, paddlers gave their best to compete for the top prizes that were at stake in the event.

Local clubs Ngakau Toa and Te Tupu O Te Manava did well in both men’s and women’s competition as well as the Oe Mapu event.

The Aitutaki junior team also managed some wins in the junior competition.

The 12th edition of Vaka Eiva had about 700 paddlers, volunteers and supporters participating.
