The V6 and V3 mixed vaka races which were to be held this afternoon have been postponed to Wednesday next week.

The busy week, with a number of events happening including preparations for Te Maeva Nui, the Team Cook Islands thanksgiving dinner tonight and canoeing’s special general meeting tomorrow have been cited for the postponement.

In the V6 10 kilometre race last week, Te Tupu o te Manava claimed the men’s and the women’s top prize.

In the men’s competition, the team finished the marathon in 46.01 minutes while the women’s team managed to cross the finishing line in 51.35 minutes.

“Thank you to our host Live Free and our safety man on the water, Brent, for another great race,” Cook Islands Canoeing Association secretary Tania George said.

Meanwhile, selection of the 2015-16 executive office holder positions and the appointment of sub-committee conveners will be the key issues in tomorrow’s special meeting at 7pm at the Maritime Cook Islands.

The monthly executive meeting, in which a number of issues including the Vaka Eiva 2015 will be discussed, will be held after the meeting.
