Serena has been in Hawaii for the past week working on final touches to her race plan to be at her best for today’s race.
The Molokai solo is a gruelling 55km ocean race between the islands of Molokai and Oahu in Hawaii.
Planning and preparing for the epic race has been months in the making and a huge commitment in every way for the island’s top female athlete, who is also part of the Team Cook Islands paddling squad.
The race has been on Serena’s bucket list throughout her paddling career and today she will tick that box.
From Hawaii, Serena told CI News that the conditions for today’s race were looking good.
“Conditions are looking good, so just up to me to get out, go hard and enjoy!” said Serena.
Words of encouragement and support have flooded the athletes Facebook who signed off before her epic race with this photo – pumped and ready to go!
