Tennis youngsters excel in NZ

Tennis coach Malcolm Kajer is pleased with the performance of the national development squad that took part in the Auckland Autumn Tournament in New Zealand last month.

The stage is set for the 24th Air New Zealand Rarotonga Triathlon, which will be held this Saturday from 1.30pm at the Tikioki Tri site.

Cook Islander William Heather has committed to Texas college Dallas Baptist University after being offered a basketball scholarship to play for the school.

This Monday will see the opening of the ‘Pursuit in Paradise’ – the inaugural Aitutaki Marathon.

There have been a lot of excited children attending the Ministry of Health-funded, ‘Gymnastics – the sport for every body’ holiday programme this week.

Five players from the Cook Islands tennis development squad have made it through to the Pacific Oceania Championships to be held in Fiji in August this year.

The Ministry of Health-funded ‘Gymnastics – the sport for everybody – holiday programme’ started yesterday.

The programme was booked out earlier than anticipated, indicating the growing popularity of the sport in the Cook Islands.

The Rarotonga Golf Club hosted the Air New Zealand Tournament at the Nikao Golf Course on Saturday last week.
