New Zealand boxers have arrived into the country, all ready to take the ring in Saturday’s Rumble in the Swamp boxing bonanza.

Three boxers from the Goodfellas Boxing Gym in Auckland will be competing in the programme to be held at the Avatiu Sports Club. They are Bjanka Radojkovi (female boxer), Deniro Clark and Koko Robinson.

Radojkovi will be fighting Avatiu’s Bernie King, Clark will take on Gospel Rupena while Robinson will battle Liam Cowan in the main bout for the Rarotonga Super Heavyweight title.

Event coordinator Terry Rangi said the visiting boxers looked trimmed and ready for the fight.

“They are surely in a good shape and look pumped for the event. They have been preparing well and we hope the local boxers are up for the challenge,” Rangi said.

There are 11 bouts in the programme, including two Muay Thai fights. Rangi said they would be finalising the programme later today.

“Everything is on track and we are looking forward to an exciting night of boxing come Saturday.”
The Rumble in the Swamp event dubbed “the amateur fight night” is co-hosted by Avatiu and O’oa boxing clubs. The idea of this programme came from Avatiu Boxing Club president Tita Teei, who wanted to develop the sport from the grassroots level.

Entry fee to the event is $15 for adults (16 plus) and $70 for VIP pass.
