The term three Junior and Youth sailing kicks off with activities including fun sailing for existing and novice sailors.
Seasoned sailors from the Mataatua, Kurahaupo and Tokomaru teams will have a training session with boats to be rigged and ready on the water for a 10am start.
Junior club president Gareth Clayton says a “learn to sail” programme will begin from next Saturday morning for children eight years and older who are reasonably confident in the water and keen to learn.
“The course includes important life skills, perseverance, confidence, enthusiasm, self-reliance, discipline and working as a team, which are all part of the water sport of sailing,” Clayton said.
“As these skills are developed it not only enables our kids to become confident sailors but will assist them in their future endeavours wherever this takes them; numbers are limited for this intake.”
The Junior and Youth training fleets will run two Saturday training sessions from 8am to 12 noon commencing August 17.
Senior club sailing starts from approximately 1pm on most Saturday afternoons.
Members are encouraged to invite friends and family along to see what the club has on offer.
