The second relay format for this year’s Rarotonga X Country series strides off this afternoon at Tereora College.

Starting from the carpark in front of the main school buildings, competitors will be taken through a challenging 1.5-kilometre course.

Each relay team is to complete four laps of the course and can put together either a two-person, three-person or traditional four-person team to take on the course.

A two-person team can only run the required laps with one runner doing laps one and three, while the second does laps two and four.

A 3-person team only requires one member to run twice, but again can’t run two laps back to back, just to add that extra challenge for our teams.

Registration again starts at 4.30pm, with as always a $2 entry fee for any competitor over the age of 16, and a $1 entry fee for kids.

Race briefing will be at 4.45pm with the first wave of runners to hit the course at 5pm.

Race organisers again wish to thank their major sponsors, Sails Bar and Restaurant, VMV Bakery and Bluesky, with spot prizes again up for grabs after the race.
