Cook Islands Rotary Club president Mareko Boyd has issued a very big “thank you” to all of the people who took part in and helped to organise and sponsor the very successful annual Rotary golf tournament held on November 11.

The tournament got away to a very good start with nearly $5000 worth of goods and services being donated as prizes.

The theme for the event was “super heroes” and a great deal of thought and effort went into the costumes people turned up in. Many, if not all of the internationally-known super heroes were in evidence and there were one or two home “grown” ones among those vying for the $600 cash prize for the best-dressed.

A total of 28 teams entered on the day, and round 168 people took part. A number of teams also brought caddies and supporters along.

It was the 15th annual Bob Boyd Memorial golf day organised by the Rotary Club of Rarotonga. The event is the club’s main fundraising effort for the year and in conjunction with the annual raffle drawn on the night, this year’s event raised $18,000.

Says Mareko Boyd:“While I want to thank our Rotarians who put much time and effort into the day, it is the participants and the sponsors who really made it and I’m sending out a very very big’ thank you’. I hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did putting it on. Meitaki maata.”
