Tennis Cook Islands experienced major success over the weekend in Fiji as two youngsters claimed wins in the Pacific Oceania Junior Championship.


Jesse Toa (Bumble), and Maka Maui were victorious in their matches against the Pasifika Boys team consisting of Heremana Courte and Jones George, winning the Oceania Junior Boys 12 & under Championships.

The Cook Islands Girls team, consisting of Moana Une and Te-Akaiti Toa were placed second in the Girls 12 & under team event, with first place going to the East Pacific Girls.

Arikitoa Allsworth, the third Junior boys 12 & under player, played very hard from the start and during the tournament, with his designated team mate, Ariitea Cotii-Helm from Tahiti.

The team, called the East Pacific Boys, were placed 4th.

The rest of the Tennis Cook Islands Junior Squad are now playing in the Oceania Regional Championships, playing for the East Pacific Team.

This tournament ends on Wednesday Fiji time.

Prize giving for both tournaments will be held after the Oceania Regional Championships are finished. The Squad leaves Fiji for home on Friday Fiji time, they overnight in Auckland, arriving back home on Friday night Cook Islands time.
