Volleyball postponed for a good cause

Cook Islands Volleyball president Hugh Graham says he was more than happy to postpone the 21-week Prime Foods Mixed Social League Volleyball to run a one-night indoor competition.

Organised by Nukz Power, the one-night indoor mixed volleyball fundraiser will be held at Bluesky Sports Arena at Tereora College tomorrow night.

“Nukz Power have been supportive of Cook Islands Volleyball to the extent that they have entered on average 3-4 teams each league that we have held in the past, in the Prime Foods Mixed League they have entered three teams,” says Graham.

“So, it was only fitting for us to assist with their fundraising efforts to host the 2017 Manea Games in Mitiaro.”

When CINews went to print yesterday, 10 teams had registered their interest, and Graham was hoping to get 18.

“The registration fee is $50 and each team is guaranteed five games. There will also be a chance for teams to get an upper hand by buying 10 points for $10 to give them a running start against their opponents per game,” Graham said.

“Also just a reminder to our players and supporters that there will be a $2 entry fee to support this fundraising night.”

Prizes consists of large food basket for the winners, plus other donated prizes.

Note: Team registration closes at 4pm today and those interested in entering teams should email their details to Hugh at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
