X Country race gains momentum

The Raro X Country race two saw a great turnout of numbers to tackle the multiple 0.98 kilometre course loop at Takitumu Primary School on a warm Thursday afternoon.

The organisers thank Papaaroa School for registering a strong contingent of student athletes to the start line who not only took out the top three placing for the 14-and-under boys’ and girls’ category, but also managed to score two delicious spot prizes, courtesy of Edgewater Resort.

Yet again another exciting cross-country course was laid out for an athletic field of 24 runners through a lovely long grass bottleneck route that saw some tumbles and skills shared along with some competitive smiles and laughter.

David Lobb along with Mona Henderson seem to be keeping their leaderboard positions as they took out the Masters yet again.

Kevin Henderson was kept honest throughout his race two efforts to take out the win with Reuben Dearlove enthusiastically hot on his island heels for second place.

Newcomer Leilani took out the open ladies’ race. Race three is Thursday next week Thursday at Rutaki Primary School.
