Both Arorangi teams were expected to make the finals, as they are the defending champions in both age groups, and will look to retain that title against the Titikaveka Pearls and Tupapa-Maraerenga Panthers respectively.
Retaining the 19U title will prove especially difficult for the Flames, as the Panthers were the top team in the round robin, and defeated their semi-final opponents, the Takuvaine Red Angels, in a walk 52-15.
In the Future Stars 12U, the Avatiu Dragonflies will battle the Ngatangiia-Matavera SeaGalz for the crown, with the latter looking especially dangerous after their 30-point win.
Another Dragonflies team will also be competing for a championship in the Shooting Stars 20+, with their challengers being the Pearls.
Both teams scored 60 points on the weekend, but the Pearls conceded less points, so the favourite going into the game is anyone’s guess.
