NETBALL Cook Islands is holding a movie night fundraiser this Friday at the Empire Cinema to help with the team’s preparation for the Oceania qualifiers in the 2017 World Youth Netball Championship to be held in Botswana, Africa.

The John Glassie-coached side will need to finish in top three of the four Oceania teams in the qualifiers from September 26 to 29 to make it to the World Youth Netball Championship.

The national federation is holding the movie premiere fundraiser of the American 3D stop-motion fantasy action adventure film Kubo and the Two Strings on Friday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are selling at $10 each. The fundraiser will assist the national U21 side to hold regular training camps over the coming days.

The national team plans to meet for a camp in Auckland this weekend to work on their final touches ahead of the qualifiers.

Coach Glassie had earlier said the camp would include the New Zealand-based “shadow” (non-travelling) team members.

The team will then go into a pre-competition camp starting on September 21.

For tickets to the movie fundraiser, phone or text Cecile on 54107.
