Netball fans were treated  to fiercely-fought and competitive junior netball games at the weekend, proving there is a bright future for netball.

The Arorangi junior netball grades dominated on the courts against Titikaveka with the wild west babies in the under 8 division showing good skills to win their match 11-1 followed up by another strong 16-4 win in the under 11 division.

Under 14 players showed skills beyond their years with the Arorangi youngsters pulling off a close 17-14 win.

A thrilling game was seen in the under 17 division and while the Titikaveka team looked sharp in their uniforms and displayed good skills, it was the gutsy and high tempo defensive style game by Arorangi that won on the day, with the side performing more strongly each quarter to take the game 25-15.

In the junior division between Avatiu and Tupapa, games were closely fought with the Tupapa under 14 team working hard to edge out Avatiu 14-12 in a game that went goal-for-goal until Tupapa pulled away in the 4th quarter.

Avatiu were able to hold off a tenacious Tupapa under 17 team with a one point 25-24 lead.

Takuvaine registered a clean sweep against Ngatangiia, winning all their match-ups at the weekend.

Netball teams take a break this Easter weekend and will return to the courts on April 11.
