Bluesky has been the sponsor of the major grand final prizemoney of $5000 since the tournament began in 2016.
CIRLA competition coordinator Taua Benioni said they were pleased to have Bluesky on board again for the third year of the opening rugby league competition for the 2018 season.
The Cook Islands Rugby League Nines, which will be held on January 5 and 6 at the BCI Stadium, will provide local clubs an opportunity to prepare for the 2018 league.
Benioni said that alongside Bluesky, they had also pencilled in other sponsors.
“Other sponsors include Predrill (Australia) owners Mick and Di, who have been attending the Nines here since CIRL Nines started in 2016,” Benioni said.
“This year (2017) they donated the bronze trophy with a bit of cash for the player of the tournament and will do the same again for 2018, also sponsoring the prize money for the sixth placing.”
Benioni said Cook Islands Tourism would also assist them with bringing officials from Australia, while the Edgewater Resort and Spa will help out with the accommodation.
“Vonnias has come on board once again, assisting with our 2017 grand final referee, Rochelle Tamarua (New Zealand), but it doesn’t stop there as we always have room for more support.”
Benioni said tickets were now on sale and supporters could contact their rugby league club executives for more information.
“They can also visit Mama Rose and Papa Ria’s Tepuka Store in Nikao or come visit the rugby league tent at the Punanga Nui market on Saturday.
“Tickets are being sold at $10 for the two days or $7 a day if you pay at the gate on the day.”
