On Saturday, the club blessed their new uniform in the presence of Nikao Member of Parliament Mac Mokoroa, who partly sponsored the attire, Pukapuka-Nassau MP Tingika Elikana, and club members and supporters.
The blessing ceremony which was followed by a kaikai was held at team captain Dr Deacon Teapa’s residence in Nikao.
Teapa thanked all the supporters, including Mokoroa, who helped in their fundraising drive for the new uniform. Mokoroa gave the team $1000.
“The total cost of the uniform including cap, trousers, playing shirt and vest came to around $2760. We managed to get the amount in our last fundraiser and the sponsorship that we received from our MP will go back to the coffers to help us with our future needs,” Teapa said.
“We thank all our supporters for helping us during the fundraising drive. The team is predominantly Pukapukans but we try and invite others to join us as well.
“We have a good team and whatever the result, the team spirit is always there.”
In wishing the team the very best for the season, Mokoroa announced another $1000 sponsorship for next year’s campaign.
