After last year’s humiliation, which saw the Town ladies lose all the three matches in the series, the side will be after some payback in the one-off, winner-takes-all 50-over showdown at Turangi Oval, starting at 12 noon.
Town skipper Tape Rikini said they would try their best to overcome the Country team.
There will be plenty of seasoned campaigners in the Town team and they will be expected to put their bodies on the line in this do-or-die clash.
“We will go out there and play to the best of our ability. We know Country will be a tough side but we will try our best to win the match,” Rikini said.
Country skipper Ina Willie seemed more confident but said they were wary of the Town outfit.
“I guess both teams are looking forward to the competition and they are coming into the match well prepared, so it will be an interesting tussle,” said Willie.
“There are a lot of good players in the team and I think it will be all about working hard and playing as a team.”
Cook Islands Cricket Association is calling on supporters to come out in big numbers and support their respective teams.
The entry to the match is free.
