It’s century number two

Tutu Tangimetua scored his second consecutive century to help guide defending champions Turangi to yet another win in the Rarotonga Cricket Competition this week.

 

The side defeated Nikao by six wickets.

Turangi batted first and opener Tangimetua hit 143 runs to help amass 273 runs for four for the home side at Turangi Oval.

In reply, Nikao were all out for 183 runs with Melody Melota top scoring on 51 runs.

In bowling, William Jephson of Turangi stood out after claiming three wickets in three overs that he bowled.

In the other men’s match, Tupapa I recorded a big win over Tupapa II at Victoria Park.

Tupapa I batted first and scored 229 runs with opener Paka Daniel falling short of a century, after scoring 96 runs.

In reply Tupapa II were all out for 87 runs.

In the women’s competition, Turangi defeated Nikao by four runs at Turangi Oval on Saturday.

Turangi batted first and scored 202 runs and in reply, Nikao were all out for 27 runs in 8.3 overs.

Tekura Kaukura was impressive for the home side after collecting five wickets in four overs.

Turangi is leading the men’s and women’s competitions heading into round seven.

The final round of games in the women’s competition will be held today.
