Cricket is gaining moment in Mangaia with the school on the island set to start their third week of competition today.

Four senior boys and girls teams and four junior mixed teams will be battling for the top honours in the competition. The senior’s season will begin on Saturday, November 14.

Cook Islands Cricket chief executive officer Alister Stevic hopes each village on Mangaia will be involved in the competition.

“We hope to have four or even five men’s and women’s teams in the senior competition this year.”

He says the timing of the season couldn’t have been better, with it finishing just before the start of the Mangaia Tri-Series involving Mangaia, Australia and New Zealand.
