Like all good things, Muri’s majestic winning streak in The Computer Man women’s cricket competition has finally come to an end.

In the opening round of the top four round robin clash on Saturday, Takuvaine bowled brilliantly to outclass Muri and bring their 17-match unbeaten run to an end.

Muri batted first and started their innings well, with three batters reaching double figures to reach 58 runs for the loss of just three wickets.

But just as things seemed well for Muri, Takuvaine bowler Clark Kainga came on and exacted the damage, taking four wickets and a catch off her four overs. Muri lost seven wickets for just 24 runs to reach a lowly 85 runs all out.

In reply, Takuvaine struggled at the beginning against Muri opening bowler Jasmanda Tuaputa, but managed to overcome that to cruise their way to victory in the 16th over.

Monga George top scored for Takuvaine on 21 runs.

In the other top four women’s match, Avana scored a massive 211 runs to record a comprehensive win over Arorangi to join Takuvaine at the top of the table.

Margaret Simiona top scored on 64 runs with Teremoana More close behind with 59.

Arorangi’s opening hitter Phillipa Arona gave Arorangi’s run chase a great go, scoring 44 runs. However, June George’s bowling proved too good as she collected two wickets, conceding just nine runs from her four overs.

Arorangi managed to mass 123 runs, 88 runs short of victory.
