The national teams will play the visiting Northern Districts Maori women’s cricket side which will touch down in Rarotonga in three weeks’ time.
Cook Islands Cricket chief executive officer. Alister Stevic says the visitors will play the national senior and the U19 teams during the tour.
The Northern Districts Maori will play a match against the Cook Islands U19 squad on Tuesday, September 15 and two against the senior women’s squad over the next two days.
The side will also play a friendly match against the Avana/Turangi women’s team on Friday, September 18.
Stevic says trials for the senior women and U19s will be held from 5.30pm at the Matavera Field. The senior squad will be coached by Denne Bourke.
“Bourke, a fast bowler out of the Arorangi Cricket Club, is excited to be taking on his first post as a national coach and is encouraging all enthusiastic players to attend the trial,” Stevic says.
“After the trials, the senior women and U19s will have a training session on Friday, September 11 before getting into their matches the following week.”
