It was fun under the sun for about 80 children who took part in the Just Play Village Festival yesterday.

Children between the ages of five to 13 years participated in the fun activities at Victoria Park in Tupapa.

Just Play programme partnered with five sports codes: rugby, cricket, athletics, handball and badminton for this festival.

Just Play programme manager Michelle Paiti was pleased with the turnout and hailed the event a success.

“Since its school holiday, this was a great time for these children to get involved into something to keep them active,” Paiti says.

“We had a variety of sports as well as educational programmes which focused on health.”

There were social messages including health, gender, inclusion and care and protection also delivered during the special festival to celebrate the country’s 50th anniversary.

Thanks to the Australian Government (AusAid), Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), UEFA and UNICEF through the Just Play Social Development Programme. Thanks also to the local partners in this community initiative.
