The establishment of the new Golden Mama’s Association comes off the back of last year’s success in establishing the men’s Golden Oldies.
Cook Islands Cricket chief executive officer Alister Stevic says that the men are having a blast playing and that there are plenty of keen mama auro out there too.
“For us it’s another way to keep people active, interested and involved in cricket,” says Stevic.
Helping Stevic to organise the group is Enua Peyroux.
Enua has been busy recruiting players and says she is excited about the great response. She is looking forward to their first matches scheduled for tomorrow at the Turangi Oval from 1pm.
Peyroux says the day should be a very social occasion.
“Golden Mama’s is about having a laugh and enjoyment and we encourage all the mamas out there to come on down to the field.”
Stevic adds that some of the Golden Oldies (men) and the Umpires Association will be getting involved in the action too.
“So I am sure that if the rain keeps away it will be a great day.”
If you are 40 and over and keen for a laugh, run and bat, grab your shoes and head to the Turangi Oval tomorrow where the funs starts from 1pm.
